Week 5 | task 5

Who owns the newspapers and TV stations in your country? Do you think this has an effect on the news that you hear?

Since I was a kid, my parents always read Berita harian newspaper as a daily routine. It published on July 1, 1957 as the first mainstream newspaper in Bahasa Malaysia. But in July 2, 2012 Berita harian renamed it to BH and since then Bh has become a true chronicler of history for the country. Basically, BH contain all the latest news that can enriching readers knowledge and stimulating their minds. BH keep updating news from time to time. They have a section for politics, family, economy, sports, and etc.   For me, this is good thing because because they have a section that can the readers read what they like. For example if they don't like to read news about politics they can skip the section to family for example. It just us that can decide what type of news that we want to know.

Another example of newspaper in Bahasa Malaysia is Harian Metro. It was published on March 25, 1991. Harian Metro's meteoric rise has stradily gained momentum over the past few years. If we realize, Harian Metro always put a very daring and suspense headline such as "Restoran Berahi", "Derita Si Anak", "Hotel Projek" and etc. These kind of headline automatically makes people want to know what's the story behind that. This is their tactic to attract and grab attention readers and makes them want to buy the newspaper. In short, Harian Metro brilliantly steal their customers heart by putting a headline that can grab people attention. Rather than BH, their headline is not as daring as Harian Metro but still the content that all matters.

Not only news about politics, sport, economy and stuff but nowadays readers also want to know about life of celebrities around Malaysia and other countries and to make it real, Bh produce their very own Bpop booklet that only come out on every Sunday. In that Bpop booklet, it's full with gossips about local and international celebrities and anything that happen in the entertainment industry.

Media Prima berhad is a Maaysian company for television station. This group currently have their own television station such as TV3, TV9, NTV7, and 8TV. For TV3, people labeled them as a family channel because they have a slots for housewifes, childrens, men, youngsters and etc. They have a variety of programs such as cartoon, dramas, cooking program, sports, news and etc. In addition, they also have a reality show program for a family to watch such as "Mentor". In addition, MP group also owns a radio stations such as Fly fm, Hot fm and One fm.

Other than Media Prima, RTM is also a Malaysian television station. RTM is broadly known as a governments channels. It is because the programs is a little bit dull and lack of entertainment program that makes young generation dislike this channels. Their program is a bit formal for me which is their program is about governments, education, etc that I think only older generation will likes this channel afterall.
