Week 2 | task 2.2

Identify at least four social/cultural groups and what media you think they use. You can include photograph if you like.

Media is mass communication to communicate with people around the world. People can communicate through television, radio, newspaper, and the Internet. Mostly people communicate with each other to talk about themselves, gossiping, and search for news, issue, events and so on. There are a lot of type of media such as printed media, social media, broadcast media, mobile media and many more. For this week task, we need to identify four social groups and describe what media that they use. For me, I chose primary group, secondary group, workers group and older group. 

For primary group, is group of age 6-12 years old. For these ages, they tend to use printed media more other than media forms. Examples of printed media like comics, books, drawing and coloring books and novels. All of these printed media is good for them because with this type of media, it will educate them through what they like to do/read. From age 6-9, it easier to teach them with printed media because they will give more attention to colorful pictures, books, or comics. So teacher suppose to take the advantages to teach them through what they like and for age 10-12, they more to novels and comics. Its good for them to read because it will make their brain actively works when they read a novels/books. There is a lot of type of novels such as science fiction, fantasy, thriller and many more. As for comics, it can be as a source of entertainment for them after school. 

Secondary group is a group of mostly teenagers from age 13-19 years old. For what I've got from research, this group is more attracted to social media and mobile media. For example of social media that mostly teenagers will use are facebook and twitter. They will keep updating about their routine, what they do on that day, share about their feeling on facebook and twitter. They also will upload pictures through facebook to make them keep active on social media. For mobile media, is a media that they will listen to music, connect to Internet and facebook-ing through their phones, and texting with their friend. They are very into these media other than printed media or other media. 

Next is workers group. For this group, I think they use both social media and traditional media. For social media, is important for them because nowadays people tend to discuss or give their opinion about their work through social media such as facebook. For traditional media such as newspapers, most of them still read a newspaper to look for a news and current issue rather than read it online. My parents said that they prefer to read news from newspaper because it’s more pleased rather than read it online. 

Lastly is the older group that I think they will prefer to use traditional media other than any type of media form. It is because they're not good to handle with this new technology such as smartphones, tabs and so on. So they will stick to newspaper as their media to look for a news, information, entertainment and so on.
